Renegade (noun):
a person who has deserted their cause or defied convention
I spent 25-years in the HVAC industry as an employee. In that time I climbed from the bottom to the top of the proverbial ladder. In the more recent years, I became dissatisfied with the "Big Box" mentality I was witnessing being applied to much of the industry. After much contemplation, I decided I would ride off into the sunset and use my skills and passion for education to train managers and business leaders in the trades. After some time I realized, that although I love my consulting work, I needed to do more. I missed the serving part of the service industry.
The time spent working to help grow family-owned businesses renewed my passion for my trade. I was, however, still pained to see customers and technicians being snatched up and used as commodities. I decided it was time to start influencing the local industry again.
On the surface, starting an air-conditioning company may not seem like a renegade idea. The principles of integrity, professionalism, and respect should not be a rogue concept. I started Talbot Heating and Cooling to buck the trends I'm seeing in the industry. I'm here to bring back your local small business service company, but with all the big business professionalism and appeal. -Bill T.
